On Sunday, July 30, 2017, at approximately 1:42 p.m., the Seabrook Police Department was dispatched to a 911 armed robbery call at the See and Stop convenience store located at 3528 NASA Parkway.
According to the store clerk, the suspect entered the store, pointed a gun at her and then walked by her to the cash register. The clerk fled the store once the suspect walked past her behind the counter. The suspect left the store with an unknown amount of money and walked into an adjacent apartment complex. The clerk was not injured during the robbery.
The clerk provided a brief description of the suspect to the responding officers identifying him as a white male wearing a baseball style hat. The clerk also provided police access to the store’s video recordings.
Detective Larry Moore with the Seabrook Police Department immediately began investigating the case and with assistance from the report and store video a suspect was developed. The suspect was identified as Shane Austin Collins, a twenty-six-year-old white male from Seabrook. Detective Moore filed charges of aggravated robbery against Collins and Harris County accepted the charges and issued an arrest warrant on Collins the same day.
On Tuesday, August 1, 2017, Lieutenant Robert Gonzales, with the Seabrook Police Department, led apprehension efforts and Collins was identified while operating a motor vehicle at approximately 10:45 a.m. He was stopped at the 400 block of Kirby Road in Pasadena and was arrested by patrol officers and detectives with the Seabrook Police Department without incident. Collins is now in the custody of the Seabrook Police Department.
