Motorists can expect a major change on Todville this weekend; Harris County will be adding stop signs on Todville at the East Meyer intersection. Todville traffic, in both directions, will now be required to STOP at this intersection. The new stop signs will be installed on Saturday, July 14 beginning at 8:00 a.m. It is estimated to take three hours to install the signs. The Seabrook Police Department will be onsite and will be assisting with traffic control during installation.
The City of Seabrook has been working with Harris County on the addition of these stop signs and after completing a traffic engineering study, Harris County recommended stop sign control on the northbound and southbound approaches at East Meyer. The traffic engineering study included traffic counts, observed traffic observations during peak traffic hours, and reviews of past studies on file. Peak hour traffic counts were significantly higher than non-peak traffic volumes and have increased on each roadway when compared to traffic counts obtained in 2015. In addition, the majority of eastbound vehicles turn onto Todville Road, since East Meyer Road terminates just east of the intersection, further justifying the need for stop signs. Additional signage cautioning drivers will also be an added safety measure to give notice to drivers as they approach the new stop signs.
The City of Seabrook encourages residents and motorists to share this information with neighbors and friends who frequently commute on Todville and East Meyer. Please use caution if driving in the area during installation on Saturday.
Thank you for your understanding as Seabrook strives to be a "Safe and Secure City".
