On Tuesday, February 12, 2019, the Seabrook Rotary recognized Seabrook Volunteer Firefighter, Assistant Chief, Andy Castiglione, as their Volunteer Firefighter of the Year recipient. The announcement was made at the 25th Annual Men Who Cook event held at the Lakewood Yacht Club in Seabrook, Texas. The Seabrook Volunteer Firefighter of the Year recognition by the Rotary includes a $1,000.00 award.
Assistant Chief, Andy Castiglione, has been a member of the Seabrook Volunteer Fire Department for over 10 years and has held the assistant chief position for approximately five years. He is a father of three children, a Naval Academy graduate, a United State Marine, and an Operations Manager at Shell in Deer Park. He is in the top five Seabrook Volunteer Fire Department responders each and every year and holds his EMT license, fire officer certification, fire instruction certification, HAZMAT certification and countless of various technical, rope and water rescue certifications. Andy is responsible for the training of all new and senior members of the Seabrook Volunteer Fire Department and when he is not working at Shell in Deer Park or spending time with his family, you will likely find him at the fire station doing research and gathering materials for upcoming trainings.
Recently, Andy organized a food and supply drive for the United States Coast Guard Families out of Ellington while they were on furlough and he, along with other members of the Seabrook Volunteer Fire Department, presented the donations to the United States Coast Guard Families on Friday, February 1, 2019.
In response to his award Assistant Chief, Andy Castiglione, stated “I was sincerely honored to be recognized by the Rotary Club of Seabrook, given the Rotary's own history of leadership and service in our community. I consider it a privilege to serve our community and the Seabrook firefighters. Both SVFD and The Rotary Club of Seabrook embody the idea of ‘Service above Self.’"
