As Christmas draws near, it will soon be time to remove the tinsel and ornaments and pack away the lights, but this year, don’t trash your Christmas tree, recycle it. The City of Seabrook encourages residents to recycle their real Christmas trees by dropping them off at the City’s Public Work Complex, 1100 Red Bluff Road in Seabrook, between December 23 and December 31.
To prepare your tree for recycling, please remove all lights, ornaments, garland, tinsel, hooks, nails, stands and plastic bags. The tree recycling drop off is for Christmas trees only; yard refuse will not be accepted. We also cannot accept flocked or artificial trees.
Public Works will be chipping the recycled trees starting December 28, and the mulch will be available for pick up for residents wanting to take some home.
Residents are responsible for transporting their trees to Public Works. Those who do not plan to participate in the recycling program may place their trees curbside on their scheduled heavy trash pickup day, and their tree will be disposed of by Waste Management.
