The Seabrook EDC continues to seek out ways to work with the business community in attracting new developments. To date, we’ve worked with three companies and have invested heavily in the re-development of a major retail area of the community.
Burke's Outlet > Storefront Façade Improvement Grant
Two important items the board considered when awarding Burke's Outlet a façade improvement grant: Burke's provided documentation of their long term lease agreement and they provided a complete construction budget, breaking out the façade portion for the board's consideration. The project took less than three months to complete and has been enjoying a fresh look ever since!
Walgreen’s > Relocation Incentive
When Walgreen’s was shopping around Clear Lake for an expansion opportunity, the Seabrook EDC came forward and worked with their site selection team on finding the right site within their criteria.
Spring Hill Marriott > Short Term Loan
Spring Hill Marriott knew they wanted to be in the Seabrook area, and the Seabrook EDC wanted to kick-start this project by offering a short-term loan. The hotel got started early and has been successfully operating in our city ever since.
Tookie’s Hamburgers > Sales Tax Abatement
After Hurricane Ike, one of the first questions our citizens asked was, “when is Tookie’s coming back?” Tookie’s Hamburgers has been a landmark restaurant since 1975 and the Seabrook EDC worked with the owner to develop a sales tax abatement incentive that would jump-start the re-building of this institution.
Tookie’s Seafood > Sales Tax Abatement
With the tremendous success of Tookie's Hamburgers, the EDC wanted to incentivize the expansion of the Tookie's brand in our home town. The board worked out a sales tax rebate option that would help land the expansion of the Tookie's brand in our city first. The restaurant opened in June 2016 and has been an economic development success story for all involved.
Waterfront Drive/The Point > Infrastructure Re-development
Another important area of the community is The Point. This area is known for its vibrant fish markets and eclectic eateries. With the help of a grant from the EDA for disaster recovery due to Hurricane Ike, the Seabrook EDC took on the mission to re-build The Point and bring the area into the next phase of retail growth.
