Boards & Commissions
Boards and commissions fulfill an important role in city government by evaluating issues which affect our community and making recommendations to the City Council for needed action. Although most boards and commissions are advisory in nature, a few are decision-making entities. 

The value of these bodies is a direct reflection of the interest and dedication of our citizens in making Seabrook a better place to live, and we encourage citizens to apply for appointment to any board or commission which may be of interest to them. 

Applying for a Board or Commission
All applicants must meet residency requirements and be registered voters in the City of Seabrook. 

You may download the application form here or pick one up from the City Secretary's office at any time. All applications must be returned to the City Secretary's Office at 1700 First Street, Seabrook, TX.

Board of Adjustment
The board meets in order to hear variance requests and special exceptions to the Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance, the Flood Ordinance and the Building Codes. This Board also serves as the Building and Standards Commission.

Building & Standards Commission
Meets as needed to hear cases and determine if a property poses a threat to the welfare of the general public and is a nuisance. (See Board of Adjustment.)

Charter Review Commission
This is a temporary commission that consists of seven citizens to review the City’s charter including possible recommendations for changes to the charter and is appointed no sooner than two years and no later than five years after the most recent appointment of the Commission.

Civil Service Commission
The purpose of the commission is to secure an efficient department composed of capable personnel who are free from political influence and who have an expectation of permanent employment tenure as public servants.

Comprehensive
Master Plan Review Commission
This is a temporary commission that consists of seven citizens to review the city’s master plan including possible recommendations for changes to the master plan and is appointed no sooner than two years and no later than five years after the most recent appointment of the commission.

Ethics Review Commission
The purpose of the Ethics Review Commission is to make recommendations to City Council regarding the appropriate disposition of allegations of violations against the ethics ordinance.

Fair Housing Activity Statement Work Group
The Fair Housing Work Group meets to ensure the FHAST form can be reviewed and finalized for submission to the General Land Office. 

Open Space and Trails Committee  
The primary purpose of the Open Space and Trails Committee is to help beautify and preserve the city’s natural resources. 

Planning & Zoning Commission
The commission reviews and makes recommendations to the City Council concerning planning guidelines, subdivision plats, adoption of an official city map, a zoning plan, building codes and other zoning issues as they arise.. 

Seabrook Economic Development Corporation
The purpose of the Seabrook Economic Development Corporation (EDC) is to enhance and expand the local tax base with quality, sustainable businesses and amenities consistent with the community’s vision.
