Born in Houston, Mayor Royal spent time during his youth with his family crabbing under the Seabrook-Kemah draw bridge, buying sodas and crab bait at Curley’s Corner, and getting shrimp off the back of the boats in Seabrook. After a four-year enlistment in the U.S. Navy, he relocated to Seabrook in 1984 where he later met his wife, Diane. He was elected to the office of Mayor for the City of Seabrook in May, 2011 and ran unopposed for a second, and final, three-year term in 2014.
