Air Monitoring Report Image

At 7:30 a.m. the City of Seabrook received a Preliminary Air Monitoring Report from the Unified Command Bayport Channel Collision. Unified Command requested that CTEH® conduct air monitoring after a barge collision in La Porte, Texas. CTEH® arrived on-site on May 10, 2019 and began air monitoring operations. CTEH® is currently conducting air monitoring in the surrounding community areas.

CTEH® performed real-time air monitoring in community areas west of the incident site including Seabrook, La Porte, El Lago, Pasadena, Clear Lake Shores, League City, Texas City, and Bacliff. During this reporting period, CTEH® personnel took hundreds of readings and CTEH® personnel observed no detectable concentrations of benzene, %LEL, toluene, and xylene in the community during this reporting period.

A 24/7 air monitoring hotline has been established for the public to report strong gasoline odors at: (281) 757-3017. Members of the community who feel they may require medical attention should still call 911. A 24/7 claims hotline is available at: (800) 241-9010.

The Unified Command will be hosting a press conference at 10:00 a.m. and they are posting information on www.bayport-response.com

The Preliminary Air Monitoring Report will be posted to the city’s website at www.seabrooktx.gov/bayport-incident. Information about the incident and the impact it has on Seabrook will be posted to this page.

Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
