May 4 City Council Recap

Seabrook City Council

National Public Service Recognition Week

Mayor Kolupski read a proclamation to recognize May 2-8, 2021 as National Public Service Recognition Week and thanks the employees of the City of Seabrook for their hard work and wonderful service to the community.

Ordinance 2021-09 Gas Service Station/Convenience Store at 1304 Bayport Blvd

Council unanimously approved, on second reading, Ordinance 2021-09, as written, to allow for a Conditional Use Permit for a Gas Service Station/Convenience Store at 1304 Bayport Blvd.

Police Department Fleet Additions

The City Council unanimously approved the purchase and addition of five (5) new Tahoes to Public Safety Vehicle and Equipment Replacement Fund (PS VERF), in the total amount of $350,620.00.  The Police Department has endeavored for many years to allow for a local Take Home Vehicle Policy and Assigned Vehicle Program, and given the size of the force, five (5) additional vehicles are needed to successfully enable the Department, at the current size, to assign a vehicle to each officer.

Bay Area Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau (BAHCVB)
LeaAnn Dearman Petersen, the city’s Director of Communication, and Shawna Reid, the BAHCVB Marketing Manager, provided Council with an update of activities and happenings for Fiscal Year 20/21. In addition, they discussed a new plan for the BAHCVB which transitions the CVB into a tourism alliance for the entire region. Moving forward, partner cities will now pay a flat $45,000 annual rate rather than the 15% Hotel Occupancy Rate. The new structure is being developed by the BAHCVB Board of Directors and will be rolled out during the FY21/22 fiscal year.   Overview seen here: DOWNLOAD ATTACHMENT
