[ARCHIVED] Tropical Storm Nicholas Update

TS - Nicholas - Update

The Seabrook Office of Emergency Management continues to monitor Tropical Storm Nicholas.  Tropical Storm and Storm Surge Warnings have now been issued for Seabrook. Heavy rainfall will impact portions of the region later tonight and into tomorrow morning.

Low lying areas of Seabrook that are typically impacted by high tides may experience periods of street flooding. These areas include homes along Todville and south of Baywood Drive. Residents who wish to relocate their vehicles to higher ground may park at Miramar Park located at 1109 Hammer Street. In the event of high water on Todville, the City of Seabrook may close Todville for the safety of residents and motorists

Avoid traveling during period of heavy rain. Never travel through flooded areas. If you see water covering the road, do not attempt to drive through it. Only a few inches of water can cause a vehicle to float. Rain also reduces visibility and may prevent drivers from the road ahead, which could lead to accidents.

All city facilities are closed and will remain closed through Tuesday, September 14, 2021. Pine Gully Park is also closed and will remain closed through tomorrowOnly essential city personnel have been activated.

Public Works crews are currently inspecting city drainage infrastructure, securing the waste water treatment plant and ensuring that all lift stations are operational with generators fueled  up and on stand by if necessary.

The Seabrook Police Department, Seabrook EMS and the Seabrook Volunteer Fire Department are fully staffed and prepared to respond as necessary. The Seabrook Office of Emergency Management has activated to a Level 2 - High Readiness and has fully staffed the Emergency Operations Center.

At this time, trash service will run normal routes today, Monday, September 13, 2021. Waste Management is monitoring the situation and will notify the City should trash services be suspended on Tuesday, September 14

The Tuesday evening regular City Council meeting scheduled for September 14, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. has been canceled. Clear Creek Independent School District has canceled classes for Tuesday, September 14, 2021.

All residents are encouraged to monitor the weather and stay up to date with city alerts. For weather information visit www.weather.gov/hgx and the Houston media.
