On Friday, February 3, 2023, the Seabrook Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) presented Transwestern with a $50,000 incentive for the development of the Bayport 146 Distribution Center located adjacent to the Bayport Container Terminal. The $50,000 incentive is a reimbursement of the building permit fees necessary to develop the facility.
The Bayport 146 Distribution Center is a state-of-the-art cross-dock distribution building totaling 454,600 square feet with a 36-foot clear height. The location along Old Highway 146 provides the heavy haul loads allowing tenants to maximize container loads and reduce shipping costs.
During the ribbon-cutting event, Transwestern indicated nearly half of the building is already under negotiations for a lease agreement. In addition, the Bayport 146 Distribution Center is currently receiving more inquiries than any other spec warehouse site in Texas.
The SEDC primary goal is to enhance and expand the local tax base with quality, sustainable businesses and amenities. The development of this facility aligns with the mission of the SEDC.
