The City of Seabrook will hold a General Election on May 2, 2026.
General Election
MAY 2, 2026 GENERAL ELECTION
(posted in accordance with TX. Government Code 2051.201(b)(3-4), effective September 1, 2019):
The general election for members of the City Council is held on the 1st Saturday in May, as set as a Texas Uniform Election Date. Find additional election-related dates and information at the Texas Secretary of State's Important Election Dates Website. (2026 dates not posted by the Secretary of State as of May 1, 2025, but the Texas Election Code sets such dates, which are not discretionary.)
The May 2, 2026, General Election is set to be held at Seabrook City Hall, located at 1700 1st Street, Seabrook, Texas 77586. Filing for a place on the ballot is set by state statute and will run from January 14, 2026, to February 13, 2026. (Click here to view the Notice of Deadline to File).
Filing requirements are per state statute, available at the Texas Secretary of State Candidate Information Website, and those of the City of Seabrook Charter, Article VII - Nominations and Elections.

Per the Secretary of State's CSO-3449 Advisory of August 3, 2020, candidate applications may be filed:
- In person, with the City Secretary's Office at City Hall;
- By mail, an application submitted by mail is considered to be filed at the time of its receipt by the appropriate filing authority. (Secs. 143.007(b); 144.005(b)); or
- By fax or email - "A signed, sworn, scanned candidate application (and petition, if applicable) may be submitted by fax or email if there is no filing fee [the City of Seabrook Charter does not require a filing fee]. Please be advised that an application must be notarized before filing via fax or email."

Voting by Mail
The state of Texas allows certain voters to apply to vote by mail. Information and the Secretary of State’s form to apply for a ballot by mail is available on the Harris Votes website.

If you're interested in running for an elected position in the City of Seabrook, here are the key things you need to know about filing for office:
Eligibility to File
You must meet the qualifications for office outlined in Article II of the City Charter. You can only run for one position per election.
How to File
Submit an Application
- Qualified individuals must apply with the City Secretary.
- The application must clearly state the office and position you want to run for.
- You must also include a sworn statement confirming you meet all qualifications required by the City Charter.
Follow State Rules
- The application process follows the Texas Election Code.
Public Disclosure Statement
You must submit a financial disclosure statement to the City Secretary as part of your application. This statement must include details about you, your spouse, and your dependent children. Here's what to include:
Property Ownership
- List all property you own or hold in trust within Seabrook's city limits or extraterritorial jurisdiction.
- Include the address, size, and current use of each property.
Income and Gifts
- List all income, fees, salaries, or gifts worth more than $25 received from companies or individuals under contract with the City within the past 12 months.
- Provide the name and address of each source.
Stock Ownership
- Disclose ownership of any stock in companies with contracts with the City if your shares make up more than 2% of that company's total stock.
If you’re considering serving on the Seabrook City Council, here are the qualifications you must meet and some important rules to keep in mind:
Basic Requirements
To serve on the City Council, you must:
- Be at least 21 years old.
- Be a citizen of the United States.
- Be a qualified voter in Texas.
- Have lived within Seabrook’s city limits for at least 12 months before the election.
Restrictions
- If you are already serving on the Council and your term is not yet over, you cannot file for another position unless you resign from your current seat.
- If you lose any of the qualifications required by the City Charter or are convicted of a felony while in office, you will immediately forfeit your position.
To vote in the upcoming City of Seabrook election, you must meet the following requirements:
Voter Registration
You must be registered to vote in one of Seabrook’s voting precincts:
- Precinct 0692
- Precinct 0333
- Precinct 1144
Voters must have registered by Thursday, April 2, 2026, to be eligible to vote in this election.

Acceptable Forms of Identification
When voting in person, Texas law requires you to present one of the following valid photo IDs issued by an approved agency:
- Texas Driver's License issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS)
- Texas Election Identification Certificate issued by DPS
- Texas Personal Identification Card issued by DPS
- Texas Handgun License issued by DPS
- United States Military Identification Card (must include your photograph)
- United States Citizenship Certificate (must include your photograph)
- United States Passport (book or card)
